Delicious Oats Chilla |
3 cup oats flour
5 tbsp semolina (fine)
5 tbsp
gram flour
4 cups water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp turmeric
1 tbsp cumin (crushed)
1 tsp dry ginger
1 Capsicum (finely chopped)
1 onion (finely chopped)
4 tbsp fresh coriander (finely chopped)
PREPARATION
Firstly, dry roast oats for 2-3 mins or until the oats turn crisp.
cool the oats completely and blend to a fine powder.
transfer the powdered oats to a large mixing bowl.
Add 5 tbsp semolina and 5 tbsp gram flour now add 1 tsp salt,1 tsp turmeric,1 tbsp cumin (crushed)
1 tsp dry ginger,1 Capsicum (finely chopped),1 onion (finely chopped)
4 tbsp fresh coriander (finely chopped) then add water.
Depending on the quality and texture of gram flour and oats, the addition of water will be more or less.
Whisk and mix to make a smooth lump free batter.
Mix well forming thick flowing consistency bread batter.
Cover and give rest for 10 mins.
Heat a Tawa or a flat pan on a low flame. You can use an iron tawa or a non-stick pan.
If using an iron griddle or tawa, then spread a bit of oil on the Tawa. Let the pan become medium-hot.
Then take a ladle full of the batter and pour it into the pan.
cover and allow to cook on a medium flame for 2-3 minutes.
Now flip the creme or chilla and cook both sides, pressing gently.
pour1 tbsp of cooking oil over the bread.
Cook this side till you see golden spots on the oat's gram flour cheela.
Finally, oats chilla is ready to serve with green chutney.
Serve oats bread plain or with any chutney or mayonnaise
